Florence Study Abroad Travel Reporting

In May 2018 I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. I think about this dreamy cultural masterpiece of a city nearly every day. It was undoubtedly one of the best experiences of my life. During my time there I had the pleasure to visit other amazing Italian cities like Rome, Capri, Positano, Como, Milan and Pompeii just to name a few. I took a travel reporting class for which I interviewed locals and wrote stories on varying topics regarding Italian culture, fashion, food, sights and more. Here, I am featuring some of my favorite pieces, which were published to our official University of Florida study abroad program’s blog.

During my stay I frequented Ditta Artigianale, an Italian coffee shop with touches of traditional American breakfast — a tourist’s dream. I chatted with the shop’s manager Simone about Ditta’s award-winning coffee and efforts to bring the American brunch experience to Florence. It’s varied menu, friendly staff and cozy and classic ambience has embedded this place into my memory. Learn more about my favorite coffee shop in Italy.

The Bluest of Waters

A boat ride on Capri’s crystal clear waters sounds like something out of a supermodel’s Instagram feed or a Dolce and Gabbana fragrance commercial. Known for its picturesque views, there are many reasons why Capri’s waters attract the rich and famous, along with 2 million other tourists a year. It is not until you embark on your boat journey through the Gulf of Naples that you realize how clear and bright Capri’s water is. Accompanied by sights of mountainous rocks and cliffs larger than life, the scene is breathtakingly beautiful. Check out why you need to experience these blue waters for yourself.
